On June 11th, 2019 the sixth annual National Forklift Safety Day will be held by the Industrial Truck Association (ITA). The objective of National Forklift Safety Day is to educate individuals on the best practices regarding forklift safety, the importance of operator training and the need for daily equipment checks.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently announced the 10 most frequently cited workplace safety violations for the fiscal year 2021. Number nine on the list points to the dangers of Powered Industrial Trucks. The types of equipment in the category are lift trucks (forklifts), tractors, platform lift trucks, motorized hand trucks, and more.

Operating a forklift is an occupational skill that can be mastered with proper training and experience. However, there’s a lot more to forklift safety than merely driving the vehicle correctly.
