Chris Cutting

Our Employee Spotlight for February is Chris Cutting, our Used Equipment and Shop Service Manager. Chris lives in Archbald, a town he likes for its excellent school system. He shares his home with his wife Brittany, their son Logan, two French bulldogs, Bunny and Charles, and a Bearded Dragon named Brad. Let's get to know more about Chris.

AL: What is your favorite hobby? What do you enjoy about it?

I love construction and remodeling—anything to keep my hands busy. In the past twenty years, I've gotten into tile and woodworking.

AL: How long have you been with Action Lift?

This upcoming August will be my 9th year with Action Lift.

AL: Describe what your job entails.

Shop Manager: I run the shop day to day, ensuring all shop work and preps are accomplished safely and in a timely manner. Used Equipment Manager: I purchase and sell equipment to our customers daily to meet their needs.

AL: Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

I am my own inspiration.

AL: Where do you see yourself in five years?

In the next five years, I'd love to have as much knowledge and experience in my roles as possible. Both roles cover so much, dealing with customers and all types of equipment, and I can only see them becoming more comfortable with more experience.

AL: What best advice can you give someone who just started their career?

Do what you love. You'll get what you want out of your career only as much as you're willing to put into it.

AL: What are the most demanding challenges you've had at work? How did you overcome them?

So far, one of the most difficult challenges I've encountered at work has been pricing equipment. Like many things in this world, everything fluctuates. What's wanted and demanded one week on a piece of equipment can immediately change the following week. So, keeping up with that could sometimes be challenging. I've learned that '"Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it."

AL: Regarding successes, which accomplishments are you most proud of? I've lived on my own since I was 16. I put myself through college all while working multiple jobs. To get what you want out of life, you must work for it. I'm happy with my accomplishments in life, but I'm never content. I always strive for more. The skies are the limit!

AL: Tell me something about you that most people don't know.

I'm a diehard Philadelphia Eagles Fan and New York Yankees fan!   GO BIRDS!! I try to get to as many games as possible and could get to in a year. I Love going on golf trips all over the country and going to the beach as often as possible with my family. I am also a movie fanatic and love watching and quoting movies—especially comedies. I can quote movies all day. As well as quotes from the office, always remember, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." ~ Wayne Gretzky and Michael Scott.

AL: What's your favorite movie or book, and why?

My favorite book is Inner Excellence by Jim Murphy.  My favorite movie is Godfather I & II (It counts as one because you must watch them back-to-back)

AL: Which of our 30 Fundamentals is your personal favorite, and why?

My favorite fundamental is "Find a Way." I've always said that "can't" isn't in my vocabulary.

Thanks for the great Spotlight, Chris!
