Calen Thoma

Our Employee Spotlight for January is Parts Representative Calen Thoma. Calen lives with his wife, Victoria, and numerous pets in Bear Creek Township. He likes living there because it is outside the valley but close enough to everything they need. Let’s get to know more about Calen.

AL: Do you have pets?

My wife Victoria and I have a 12-year-old Lhasa Apso named Bailey and a cat named Punkin. We also have nine chickens and five ducks. The star of the show is L ’Orange, a monster Muscovy Drake.

AL: How long have you been with Action Lift?

I have been with Action Lift for 2.5 years.

AL: Describe what your job entails.

I work in the Parts department. If you need them, come see me.

AL: Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

My father and Uncle have both performed various roles in the forklift industry.

AL: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I want to be wherever my skill set is of the best value to the company.

AL: What best advice can you give someone who just started their career?

Don’t get fixated on a given path; life is full of options, and you should never miss an opportunity to learn something new.

AL: What are the most demanding challenges you’ve had at work? How did you overcome them?

Maintaining focus is a regular challenge. There is a consistent multidirectional pull between techs, walk-in customers, phone calls, and emails.

AL: Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.

I enjoy gardening and collecting pressure gas lamps and lanterns.

AL: What’s your favorite movie or book, and why?

Tremors is the best movie ever made. When you have some time to kill, ask me why.

AL: Which of our 30 Fundamentals is your favorite, and why?

Honor Commitments: It is important to be realistic about what you can commit to and then follow through to the best of your ability.
